The VDX-6324 SBC is a PICMG 1.0 Half-sized ISA SBC, that utilizes an onboard Vortex86DX Fanless 800MHz processor built for Ultra-Low Power Consumption. The processor is highly integrated so that it reduces the price of any board utilizing this processor. The VDX-6324 comes with a PC/104 bus connector and an optional PCI-104 / PC/104+ bus connector which allows it to utilize higher-end PCI bus based modules.
This is one of the few remaining ISA controller CPU card options available that can be used as a replacement for a 486 ISA controller card. The VDX-6324 is a currently available replacement for SBC-357, SBC-411 or SBC-456, as well as many other 386 and x486-based PICMG 1.0 Half-ISA cards in legacy edge-card systems.
The VDX-6324 has a fully static 32-bit 486 class X86 processor, enhanced with some 586 instructions, and is PC compatible. Allowing it to run most popular 32-bit Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux, while still having support for 16-bit operating systems such as DOS or MSDOS. The Video Chip (Volari Z9s) features 32 MB onboard video memory supporting Analog VGA monitors and TFT Flat panel interfaces and has a resolution of up to 1280×1024 @ 16M colors. In addition to video, four USB 2.0 ports are available as well as one Parallel port (SPP/EPP/ECP modes), an UltraDMA – 100/66/3 EIDE port (which supports up to 2 IDE devices) and three RS-232 and one RS-232/422/485 serial ports. The VDX-6324 can run at temperatures of -20 º C (-4º F) to 70º C (158º F). The numerous features provide an ideal price/performance solution for commercial and industrial applications where stability and reliability (no moving parts) are essential.
**Flash Disk not included.**
While this board will boot DOS from a USB thumb drive, as well as access files on a DOS thumb drive, the system must be restarted to change USB drives or refresh contents. If you need the ability to hot-swap USB Drives in ROMDOS / MSDOS please see the VDX2-6524 Vortex86DX2 PICMG 1.0 Half-ISA
EMAC can provide software Board Support Packages (BSPs) for our Single Board Computers (SBCs) using your choice of compatible Embedded Operating Systems. Integration of the single board computer into an enclosure, adding memory, CPU, Wireless (WiFi, Bluetooth or Mesh), storage solution & loading an OS, in most cases is free with the purchase of the Single Board Computer and related components. Additionally EMAC has LCD- Panel Kits with Touchscreen options, allowing our Single Board Computer Solutions to utilize an LCD for video output and a touchscreen replacement of a mouse for input.
The LCD Panel Kit with the Touchscreen option in conjunction with the Flash Disk, makes for a Solid State Embedded computer system that is ideal for rugged, wide temperature, and low downtime environments. If you cannot find exactly what you need from our large Off-The-Shelf selection, EMAC can potentially customize any hardware or software component, and additionally offer driver development and software application programming, providing you with the perfect fit for their SBC application needs. EMAC can provide Enclosures, I/O Modules, Peripherals, Memory, and Operating Systems for most of our x86 and ARM SBCs to make them into fully embedded systems.
EMAC supports and can install the the following Embedded Operating Systems on Hard Drive or Flash Disk: Embedded Linux, Xenomi Development Framework, ROMDOS, Windows CE, and Windows Embedded Standard, Windows 10 IoT or Windows 10 IoT Core.
